SPIRIT WEEK 2011

SPIRIT WEEK

Spirit week at HPCA is a fun filled time when students get to use their imagination and be creative on many different levels.  Each day, there are themes and students dress up according to the theme of that day.

Through out the week we play games, have competitions, and have a parade that is followed by a closing pep rally.

These photos were taken on Friday, January 28th, a very cold morning during our parade.  The theme of the day is HPCA day or as some call it "GREEN DAY".

7th Grade Art

The Seventh Grade Art students have been working with clay.  They created hand built clay hearts.  They learned how to score the clay and how to use slip to attach pieces of clay to their work.  The pieces were fired and all of them survived the kiln.  This week they are working on glazing the bisqueware. Here are some photos of them at work.  The pieces will be fired again this week and we will post photos of the finished work.  This 7th Grade class is very creative and I am very pleased with their efforts.

6th Grade Art

Abby Lewallen is our 6th Grade Art Teacher.  The sixth graders created art work inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinsky.  They did a great job!  Here are some examples of their work.
