River Rocks

A couple of weeks ago we did a project that was inspired by River Rocks.  If you have ever walked along the edge of a river in North Carolina, then you know how beautiful all the pebbles and rocks are at the edge of the river.
Students painted 3-5 sheets of paper different colors and then cut out irregular/organic shapes and glued them on black paper.

8th Grade Art Work

8th Grade Art students have moved out of their Design Unit and into Printmaking.  Our first experience was printing leaves that we collected outside.  The students enjoyed this project and the results are great.

Paper Quilt Making

We are in our 6th week of school and the students are creating some wonderful things!  We started a paper quilt making project last week.  We painted strips of scrap paper, then we are going to cut the pieces in 2 inch or 3 inch squares and then piece them together into a colorful quilt.  Here are some photographs of the students working on their quilts.  In a future post, I will include photos of the finished product.
